When one thinks about a lightsaber, what’s the very first idea that comes to your mind? Perhaps it is with the humming noise it makes when it is drawn, or probably it is the epic duels. Be that as it may, the colour of the lightsaber seems just about as important as its sound or style.

The colour is not there for cosmetics, it reflects a great deal about the character holding the saber and their place in the Star Wars universe. In this article, we’re going to take a closer look at the neopixel lightsabers in use today, while focusing on some of the most iconic colours.

    Red Lightsaber

If anyone wields a red lightsaber, you know right away that he or she is not here to play games. The red blade is brilliant, almost glowing with an inner fire. It’s the type of color that attracts your attention and makes you think, “Uh-oh, trouble’s coming.”

    What It Means:

Nearly every red lightsaber symbolises the dark side of the Force. Think of the Sith and all those who have turned their back on the Jedi way. Red represents wrath, power, and a burning desire to control or destroy. It is the colour of passion in general; however, in the Star Wars universe, it is a passion that leads to chaos and mass destruction.

    Who Wields It:

Some of the most iconic bad guys in Star Wars have sported red lightsabers: Darth Vader, ultimate Sith Lord, is likely the first that comes to mind. Add Darth Maul and his double-bladed red lightsaber. These iconic neopixel lightsabers are highly sought after but can be found at reputable online stores, such as Padawan Outpost.

    Blue Lightsaber

A blue lightsaber is timeless. The colour is strong and constant, like that of a clear sky during the sun. Something about it relaxes the mind, yet there is an aura of authority to it. Within the Star Wars universe, blue lightsabers are associated with the Jedi order.

    Who Wields It:

Some of the most beloved heroes within Star Wars are blue lightsaber wielders. Luke Skywalker, especially in his early Jedi days, used a blue saber There’s also Obi-Wan Kenobi, many fans favourite, wields a blue lightsaber. Anakin Skywalker also sports a blue lightsaber before his fall to the dark side.

    Green Lightsaber

Green lightsabers glow with a softness and serenity distinct from others. The green blade is peaceful, yet possesses a strength that should not to be underestimated.

    What It Means:

Green lightsabers are associated with Jedi connected to the mysteries of the Force. The Jedi holding this blade are not only warriors but also philosophers, healers, and diplomats. The green color represents growth, harmony, and deep association with the living force.

    Who Wields It:

If one thinks about green lightsabers, you have to mention one of the most discussed characters: Yoda. As one of the wisest and most feared Jedi, the green lightsaber symbolises a lot about the deep bond that Yoda shares with the Force.

    Purple Lightsaber

This colour is a mix between red and blue, and signifies the dual personality of the welder.

    What it Means:

The purple lightsaber is generally viewed as a bridge between the light and dark sides of the Force. It symbolises a Jedi who treads that thin line which separates righteousness from power, one who will not refrain from employing more aggressive means if it better serves the greater good.

    Who Wields It:

Mace Windu is the most notable character who wields a purple lightsaber. As the only Jedi Master with fighting skills unsurpassed by any, Mace Windu’s purple lightsaber reflects his unique approach to the Force. He doesn’t fit into the archetype of a warrior, but fits better as a leader who will make harsh decisions if need be.

    White Lightsaber

This colour is pure, almost otherworldly, akin to a beam of light cutting through the darkness. It is a blade that speaks of something pristine and untainted.

    What It Means:

White lightsabers represent neutrality and independence. This saber represents those who have moved aside from the usual ways of either the Jedi or the Sith in the Force. The white colour is symbolic of a new beginning, turning away from the old way of doing things in search of something purer and balanced.

    Who Wields It:

The most well-known character wielding white lightsabers is the former Jedi who walked away from the Order, Ahsoka Tano. Her decision to bear white blades reflects her independence and dedication to justice, without being bound by the ideals of the Jedi or the Sith.

    Final Thoughts

And there you have it, the top five neopixel lightsaber colour profiles. From the fiery red of the Sith to the serene green of Jedi Masters, the colours speak for themselves. These lightsabers aren’t just weapons, they represent characters who wielded them and their chosen paths. So, the next time your lightsaber fires up, take a closer look at its colour, it might just tell you everything.
