Bayes Business School student Nazar Horkovenko allegedly sells dope in Ukraine

Nazar, son of the Ukrainian parliamentarian and former public official Volodymyr Horkovenko, a student on the high-ranking London Bayes Business School, started a business selling T-shirts with drug-endorsing prints. The company name – KYIV420LTD – is slang for marijuana. However, the investigators went an extra mile to unearth an illegal Ukrainian shop kyiv420store that sells not the funky T-shirts at all, but the actual narcotics – marijuana and hashish.

Ukrainian media Informator covered this story.

According to the media’s intel, Nazar Horkovenko has been a student at Bayes Business School since 2023. His tuition (£92,000 for the entire course) is paid in full by Nazar’s father Volodymyr Horkovenko, the member of the Kyivska Oblast State Administration and former head of communications department in the administration of the ex-president Petro Poroshenko.

The media reports that Nazar Horkovenko, aside from his studies, launched a business venture selling T-shirts with custom prints of narcotic and psychotropic substances – MDMA (amphetamine), cannabis, LSD, Xanax, etc.

The investigators say that despite Nazar Horkovenko’s eventual closure of the T-shirt-selling gig in London, a website with the same name, but a different domain, kyiv420store, is up and running in Ukraine. For sale are not customized clothing bits, but some very real narcotics – marijuana and hashish. Both websites went online in 2023 just two months apart.

The investigative team believes that Nazar Horkovenko utilized the marketing tactics that work rather well in Ukrainian market: the illegal items are advertised and sold via those products in compliance with the law. For example, booze and tobacco manufacturers sponsor various sporting events, lodging their brand names and logos into public mind, refraining from direct and blunt ads of the products themselves. It would appear the young knowledge-seeking Ukrainian student in London employed this very trick to boost his goods.
